Betting on Yourself: Top 100 Women to KNOW Honoree Linda Fombo Shares Her Playbook for Bold Moves
WFG Agent Linda Fombo recognized as a Top 100 Woman to KNOW Honoree
It’s a familiar definition of success: become a doctor, a lawyer or a teacher. These paths are respected, stable and widely accepted. But not every woman wants to follow the script someone else wrote.
So what happens when you decide to write your own?
At the KNOW Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, women from across North America gathered to answer that question. Over three days, entrepreneurs and leaders shared real stories about growth, leadership and building what’s next, even when the path forward looks uncertain.
World Financial Group (WFG) agent, and a top team builder, Linda Fombo stepped onto that stage as one of the 100 Women to KNOW in America with a message rooted in that experience of uncertainty. She believes betting on yourself requires action, not guarantees. On a panel focused on self-growth and taking risks, she shared her perspective on what it actually takes to follow through on a decision that doesn’t have a defined end result.

“I had a career that checked all the boxes,” said Fombo, who worked as a nurse practitioner and later a nurse anesthetist. “I had everything people are told to work toward. I just wasn’t convinced it was everything.”
She had built what many would consider the finish line, a career that was stable and secure. But instead of settling into that certainty, she questioned it and began building a business part-time with WFG.
“At a certain point, I had to be honest with myself,” she said. “I saw the potential in what we were building, and I knew that if I didn’t fully commit to it, I would always question whether I left something bigger on the table.”
That decision didn’t come with a roadmap or universal support. In fact, her biggest pushback actually came from the people closest to her — her family. Walking away from nursing meant stepping away from certainty and into risk. She had to choose between the path that made sense to everyone else or commit to the one she believed in.
Fombo ended up choosing herself. She left her nursing career and committed to focusing fully on her business with WFG. From that point on, she approached her work with the same mindset — take action and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.
She entered new markets, tried new strategies others advised against and made decisions without knowing exactly how they’d play out with her business. And it worked.
“You don’t build confidence by waiting until you feel ready,” Fombo said. “For me, it came from taking action, figuring things out as I went and continuing to show up even when it felt uncomfortable. The more I leaned into that, the more clarity I gained, not just in the business, but in how I lead and how I make decisions.”
Her story resonated because it challenged a deeper tension: the gap between what looks right and what feels right. That question sits at the heart of the KNOW Women Conference. It’s a space for women who want to think differently and act boldly — on their own terms.
Through WFG, Fombo has built a business centered on financial education and helping others create opportunities for themselves. Her story doesn’t offer a shortcut or a clean blueprint. It reinforces something more honest: betting on yourself is uncomfortable, often unclear but still worth pursuing.
